Firecrest Fly Rod
Firecrest Fly Rod
- Model Number:HROFIR908
- SKU:1651037
Developed and proven on the windblown rivers of the Northern Rockies, the Hardy Firecrest is built to overcome extremes—extreme weather, extreme flies, or extreme distance. Featuring a fast-action Sintrix FLT blank with an exceptionally high recovery rate, Firecrest drives tight, wind-cutting loops and has the backbone to turn over even the most air- resistant flies in heavy conditions. The powerful butt section provides the strength to lift sinking lines and pull large fish clear of structure, while the stable tip ensures consistent accuracy with aggressive tapers and heavy lines. - CCChris C.Verified Buyer1 week agoRated 5 out of 5 starsSweet new rod!
Picked up the new Hardy Firecrest in a 9’ 7wt and it has quickly become my favorite streamer rod for smallmouth. I was blown away by its accuracy and it puts large flies exactly where you want them when casting a full-sinking line. Paired with the Averon reel, it feels remarkably balanced and light in hand. It was a blast to cast large streamers for smallmouth all day, with plenty of power when needed and zero fatigue by the end of the day. Super impressed with this new rod! Will be taking this 7wt on bonefishing trips as well for a fun backup to my 8wt Marksman Z.
Side note - Wish Hardy made a 6wt with a full wells grip and no fighting butt. The picture is not accurate on the site as the 6 comes without a fighting butt and has a half wells grip. Just personal preference after fishing full wells for so long. Even a 6 with full wells and a fighting butt would be a good compromise.
