The strength of the Bougle - apart from its looks - lies in its ability to protect tippets. The design is derived from the historic Hardy Perfect: the Bougle runs on ball-bearings which make it one of the smoothest winding reels ever constructed. The ventilated spool and the aluminium spindle both contribute to lightness and strength. The Bougle is characterised by the clear anodised aluminium finish and the striking ivorine handle. And of course by the sing-song notes of a fish taking line.
