Cane Rod Care
Your Hardy Bros. Cane Rod is an investment and if you look after it it could last for generations. Follow the advice below from our Cane Rod craftsmen to get the most from your rod.
• Fit the ferules with a straight push and disengage in the opposite direction. Never twist the sections to disengage as this can result in damage to your rod
• If your ferules are tight, lubricate them with plain dry soap, especially if the rod hasn't been used frequently
• Your rod is supplied with two tips; these are marked with No's one and two. To optimise your rods performance it is recommended to alternate between the two tips on fishing days
• After use, ensure you dry it with a cotton cloth or paper towel. Never store a wet rod in its rod tube, rather hang it in a dry room by the tag on the rod bag at room temperature
• Ensure that the rod is not exposed to freezing temperatures as this may result in varnish discolouration
• When storing the rod in the car at high temperatures, ensure that you remove the end cap of its rod tube to prevent temperature related damage to your rod
• Your fly line is an important contributor to your rods performance and as such needs to be cleaned regularly to ensure your rods optimum performance
